We Survived

"...and the living will envy the dead"

Wow! It's all over! I have some book keeping and the like to do. I also want to send out a whole heap of "thankyous" which I'll do over the next few days, but I can pretty much declare "WasteLand" a success.
Now. Must. Have. Sleep.

Thanks to all who attended, and special thanks to all who helped.

WasteLand is Nigh

Tomorrow is the big day. WasteLand finally starts. I'm packing up everything to take along. Hopefully I'll see you all there.

Final program is at:

2 Days to go!

Sean Williams has touched down OK, The program is printing in the background. The projectors, and OHP have been arranged, as has the sound system. (My trusty amp used at Swancon strikes again)

I have to send out the final e-mails tomorrow, but once done we are home and happy.

Thanks for EVERYONE who has helped, offered support, offered advice, agreed to be in panels and otherwise made this an enjoyable event so far.

If anyone needs one, here is a copy of the flyer:

It's two pages, designed to be printed on a duplex printer then cut in half. Alternatively, only print out side one.

Two weeks to go

I have had my first "stress attack", and as a result I got a heapload of stuff done at 5am in the morning.

I have cleaned up and "tweaked" the Program. I have updated the Budget and submitted it to WASFF. I have made and laminated most of the membership cards. The few people I have shown them to have been happy with the design. 60 down. I have made and laminated the Guest passes and some of the staff passes.

The latest version of the Program is HERE

Getting There

I've now done the guest passes. I have done Posters. The hotel is confirmed. The Guests are all confirmed. Next week I send out the panel lists to the panelists.

I'm also making sure that I'll know where the nearest place to vote is.

Great. An election on the first day of my con.

Countdown

With only 2 months to go, things are starting to get exciting. The hotel is confirmed. The program is at the clean n shape stage.

Cross the "T"s and dot the "I"s

I'm going to need some volunteers to help for half a day (or less) each at the convention. You'll be helping with things like AV and panel coordination while I man the reception desk.

Updates

Hey all. I have now booked and paid for Seans tickets, so that has moved forward. I have put up for joining WASFF, submitted my budget and it should be finalised by the end of the next meeting. The program has a draft finished and will be shortly available for people to look at. Most have at least one person on the panel. I plan to have it finalised by 1 month before the con. More info is up on this page, and a revised look n feel has been added.
We are moving along well here. Some stuff is ahead of schedule, some behind.

Updated Look

I took advantage of the new look n feel updates by Blogger to update the WasteLand blog. The new formats seem to be more compatible than the old ones, which would often come up covered in random data garbage.

Slow but steady progress

The con is in "ticking over" mode. Nothing dramatic has happened since Swancon. I plan to have a program ready by July 1st. Issues with insurance should be organised by the end of May.

Secondly, I'd like to announce our local Guest of Honour: Paul Kidd!

Paul is a "real swell guy" and always fun at cons! Paul is well known for his work in Comics, Books and RPGs. He is also working on TV shows as we speak. Welcome aboard, Paul!

Announcing our Fan Guest of Honour

I'd now like to welcome Heidi Kneale as our Fan Guest of Honour. She's been a fan for many a year, and is knowledgeable about many unique subjects. Her fandom also as a nicely international feel with her background in US fandom.

Guest of Honour Announced

Wasteland moves ahead in leaps and bounds...
I'd like to welcome our Guest of Honour, and thank him profusely:
Welcome Sean Williams.

Sean is a great person to have around at a con, as any of you who have met him will agree. He also bring a writing career which includes several appropriately themed books.

(I'm currently up to the last part of the "Books of the Chosen" which is post-apocalypse styled fantasy. Go and buy it now! Very readable and enjoyable)

More info on our guest can be found at the above hyperlink.
